Pastor Lawrence D. Becker has been called to be the new pastor at Westchester Lutheran Church and School. An installation service was celebrated on July 1, 2018, with Bishop Guy Erwin, Bishop of the Southwest California Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, officiating.

Pastor Becker first began his ministry nearly 40 years ago at Westchester Lutheran Church, where he was ordained on August 14, 1983, by Rev. Fred Masted, who served Westchester Lutheran Church for over 49 years. Pastor Becker and his wife, Shirley, were also married by Pastor Masted in 1978. Mrs. Becker serves as Early Education Director here at Westchester Lutheran Early Learning Center.

Pastor Becker was born in Welland, Ontario, Canada, in 1954, and was raised in Fontana, California. He graduated from California Lutheran Bible School in Los Angeles in 1974, majoring in Biblical Studies. He graduated from Azusa Pacific College in 1978, majoring in Biblical Literature, and Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN, in 1983.

Prior to coming to Westchester Lutheran, Pastor Becker served Trinity Lutheran Church and School in Hawthorne, CA, for nearly 24 years, Calvary Lutheran Church in Grand Island, NE, and Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Moorhead, MN.

Pastor Becker and Shirley have two married sons and three grandchildren.
